Observation: How we come to know and trust our children.

Open to all - February 14, 9am-12pm with Castle O’Neill, $75

A regular observation practice is at the heart of Montessori methodology. We know we should do it but observation often gets pushed to the bottom of the to-do list. When we observe, we see what our children are capable of and learn to trust their ability to manage themselves independently. We understand when to step in and when to step out of their way. We’ll reconnect to the purpose of observation, explore logistics and make an observation plan for your classroom.

Assistant Workshops

Infant Toddler - April 25 or September 12 with Kate Kim

Early Childhood - April 26 or September 13 with Kate Kim

The IT and EC Assistant Workshops will cover the basics of Montessori philosophy and theory, child development, role of the assistant, classroom organization and setup, how observing children can tell us about our classroom and our community needs, communication skills, conflict resolution/emotional guidance, and an introduction to some of the Montessori materials.

Advanced Assistant Workshop

Early Childhood - April 26 or September 13 with Katelyn Shore

The Early Childhood Advanced Assistant Workshop will go deeper into philosophy as well as further into the materials and lessons in the classroom. The Advanced Assistant Workshop is meant for assistants that have been in a 3-6 Montessori classroom for some time, are familiar with Montessori theory, and have begun giving lessons.

Rediscover Series - Practical Life

Infant Toddler - May 3 with Kate Kim

Early Childhood - May 3 with Leah Walsh

Our Rediscover Series is an opportunity for credentialed Montessorians to revisit curriculum areas and rediscover presentations, extensions, and forgotten points of interest. This year we will be exploring Practical Life and all of the many ways a robust Practical Life area can invigorate your classroom, increase concentration, and offer a foundation for strengthening executive functioning. Both groups (IT & EC) will start and finish the day together.
